The fears of the Nkuringo Group splitting are no more after reports that the group has now stabilized. The group which lost Rafiki, a few weeks back to poaching has now stabilised and it has got a new leader. The group which comprises of now 11individuals is being led by Rwamutwe the dominant black back which was living in the family.

The reports from a team of Gorilla Doctors and UWA also indicate that Tabu is taking the 2nd in command role of looking after the family that is recovering from the loss of Rafiki who led the group for several years.

The baby gorilla of the group is also well looked after and the UWA team has acknowledged that Furaha (one of the mothers) was seen adjusting the position of the baby while moving and feeding.
