Gorilla trekking is the real deal of an African safari where you will have an ultimate gorilla experience in the jungle. It is a breath taking moment spending an hour with the mountain gorillas in their natural habitat going about their day to day life. Mountain gorillas are categorized as endangered species that you can only find in tropical forests of Bwindi Impenetrable National Park, Mgahinga National Parks in Uganda and interspersed bamboo of Volcanoes National Park and lastly Virunga National Park in Democratic Republic of Congo. Worry not about the cost, here are some inspiration tips on how to trek gorillas on budget;

  • Choose short days safaris, here we mean to go for 2-4 days safari that will not strain your finances for as long as you have a day of gorilla experience.
  • Opt to trek gorillas in Bwindi national park, which is cheaper in cost of permits and accommodation. In Uganda a gorilla permit is at 600 dollars which is relatively cheaper than Rwanda at 1500 dollars. Another advantage with Bwindi, there is quite number of budget accommodation to cater for your needs.
  • Avoid ground transport, you are also advised to arrive in Kigali and trek gorillas in Bwindi.  It is a short distance crossing the border to Uganda and transfer to Bwindi than driving from Entebbe airport to southwestern Uganda.
  • Travel as a group, this is to minimize cost incurred on transport and accommodation that can be shared among group mates, you could also get fair discounts on the accommodation lodges in the luxury lodges under standard rooms sharing.
