Generally, trekking gorillas typically takes you through a hike to montane area, dense vegetation to see mountain gorillas. But considering our special needs visitors on gorilla trekking tour, there are traditional bamboo stretchers like carriers or innovatively built modern steel base sedan chairs with seat belts and handles which persons with disabilities can be carried through the jungles while conducting gorilla trekking. About 12 able bodied porters are assigned to carry either of these carriers. The procedure of reserving gorilla permits for persons with disabilities is similar in Uganda and Rwanda. But the rates may vary. In Uganda, gorilla trekking permits are obtainable at US Dollars 700 unlike Rwanda where permits cost US Dollars 1500. Best time to travel to track gorillas in Uganda or Rwanda
The most ideal time to plan a gorilla trekking whether you are a person with disability or not is during the dry season. This is when the gorilla parks record the lowest or no rain making it easier to track these amazing creatures. The dry months start from June to September or December to February. It is possible to go trek gorillas during the wet or rainy season (from March to May or October to November) as well but that is when plenty of rains are recorded.

A normal packing list of gorilla trekking includes items like waterproof hiking boots, a good camera with no flashlight, long-sleeved shirts, daypack, insect repellents, first aid kit, sun glasses, sunscreen, sweater, bottled water, snacks.
