The Rushaga Nshongi Orphanage is run by the community people whose vision is to empower the orphans for their sustainability through education, health care, career guidance and counseling.

The orphanage farm performs an energetic music and dance show, practices vegetable gardening, piggery, potatoes growing and handmade crafts are sold to visitors lo the Nshongi area. The orphanage farm in Uganda was formed in 2010 in Bwindi – about 45km from Kisoro town – by Mfitumukiza Francis through the community leader in response lo the plight of the many children in Nshongi community that are orphaned by AIDS and other terminal diseases. Many children were left with no financial assistance for education and other basic needs.

Many children were left with no financial assistance for education or other basic needs.

Community Goals

  • promote unity between the community, the orphans and the Batwa (pygmies)
  • develop talents of the orphans through handcraft making
  • educate the children about the importance of conservation
  • promote and emphasize education through financial support
