Bwindi Hospital is a Church of Uganda (CoU) Health Centre operating on a private not-for-profit basis. It was established in 2003 and currently provides health care to approximately 40,000 people living in Kayonza and Mapungu sub-counties of Kanungu District.

BCHC provides outpatient, maternity, inpatient medical and surgical, x-ray, ultrasound and dental services. The most prevalent diseases in the area are malaria, malnutrition, HIV/AIDS, tuberculosis, other respiratory and gastrointestinal infections.

The Health Centre is partially funded through user fees, although the local Batwa people are not charged and other people who cannot afford charges are still treated. The rest of the running costs of the unit (approximately $400,000 per year) and all of the development costs are met by donations.

The Ntumgarmo Tea Factory does have an airstrip to which charters from Entebbe arrive bringing clients for trekking in Bwindi. The national Park does have a radio set to which it can communicate with Kampala and the National Parks office in Kabale. Some of the tented camps also operate HF radio sets.
