Two Gorilla Babies Born in Bwindi

Bwindi Baby Gorilla

It is double celebration in Bwindi Impenetrable National Park following the birth of two baby gorillas. The two babies have been born in Nshongi and Muyambi families of Rushaga Sector in Southern Bwindi Forest.

The infant gorillas thought to have been born on April 25 and May 1, 2020 has caused excitement in both families. A gorilla has been born to Mother Kabagyenyi and Silverback Bweza within the Nshongi Family. Kabagenyi joined the group from a wild family and her age is estimated to be around 10 years since she joined the Nshongi Group while she was still infant. The birth of the baby has increased the troop size to 10 individuals.

Another baby is tightly guarded in Muyambi Gorilla Family, one of the newly habituated gorilla family in the Buhoma Sector of Bwindi. The father of the group is the silverback Muyambi and the mother is unnamed. Muyambi was an adult member of Mubare family but split away from the family and formed his own led group. The group was named after him and it is one of the families visited by tourists who go tracking in the Buhoma Sector of Northern Bwindi. The family size of the group has increased to 7 members.

The family has tightened their guard against any danger. The mountain gorillas are known to be very aggressive when they get a baby.
